Forest Therapy Walk

Cultures all around the world celebrate the Summer Solstice by reconnecting with nature. This program will consist of a Forest Therapy Walk combined with Summer Solstice rituals. The Summer Solstice reminds us to turn inward and find the nourishment to grow. It is a time to reflect on personal growth and get connected to playfulness, creativity, and expanding consciousness into the realm of possibility.

The practice of Forest Therapy is grounded in the belief that the earth has wisdom to share with humans when we slow down long enough to pay attention. This practice originated from the Japanese practice called Shinrin Yoku which translates as “Forest Bathing” – it is simply a metaphor for taking in, or “bathing” in the essential oils the trees/plants naturally emit (also known as phytoncides). The Summer Solstice is an energetically charged day and an important one to set intentions. We will do so through invitations partnering with the nature elements and energies of the Summer Solstice.

Forest Therapy is a practice where you are invited to connect with your body and nature in the present moment. By awakening your senses and slowing down, you can develop a greater connection and relationship with the forest, yourself, and others. This is a very relaxed and mindful way of being in the forest. Forest Therapy Guide June Leo-Randazzo will be offering “invitations” during the program. Participants will have opportunities throughout the walk to gather every so often to share and listen to each other. The walk ends with a tea ceremony serving a special tea from Asia that symbolizes transformation and has been used by traditional ancient communities for centuries.

The walk will end with a guided intention setting tea ritual followed by snacks. This is not a hike, but rather a slow walk to no walk at times. ANFT guides often share that the “The forest is the therapist, and the guide opens the doors to the senses.” During your experience, the forest will offer you whatever it is you need.

Registration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday, June 18.
