It’s officially summer! I already have the start of a Teva tan and I am ready to head out on the waters up north. What do you do during the summer months to be active?
Recently I was reading an article on how to keep my body healthy as I get older. One of the suggestions was simply walking outside. With different terrains we are using different muscles and even practicing our balancing skills. Have you noticed it’s more difficult to walk on a sandy beach over pavement? Or perhaps you like the challenge of mountains or prefer flat grounds.
I personally find myself hiking a whole bunch during our summer camp, but I also love paddleboarding on the weekends when I get a chance. The first time I go out each year my muscles are sore for a few days after. Summer time often allows us to be more active as we soak up the sun’s rays (with sunscreen!) before the icy winter returns again.
Every season has different activities to do from kayaking, to leaf peeping, to snowshoeing, there are plenty of ways to stay active and keep our health in check no matter our physical or mental ages.
