At our Wednesday Stewardship Work Night in October, we will be focusing on trail maintenance involving brushing and trailside pruning and blazing. By the end of a growing season, trees and shrubs have moved into the trail and can make trails more difficult to follow and less interesting to walk on. This evening, we will be walking a trail to clean up the trail for winter and make sure it is easy to follow by cutting back vegetation and checking trail blazes. We will discuss how far we should be clearing, what cuts to make, and what tools can be used to do it.
