This virtual program is back by popular demand! As you’re hiking along the Overlook Trail at Baltimore Woods, you come across a large fence. What is that for? That fence protects a rare habitat in New York called a Rich Sloping Fen. Still have questions? Join us to learn about this amazing habitat and the volunteer driven effort to protect it. Hear from Don Faber-Langendoen, an ecologist with NatureServe, Randy Nonenmacher, a volunteer The Woods, and Gregory McGee, a professor at SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. These special guests will walk us through the planning behind this project, the importance of this rare ecological area, and the ongoing research that has stemmed from it.
