Whitney Lash-Marshall, Executive Director

Baltimore Woods Executive Director Whitney Lash-Marshall Whitney joined The Woods after several years of teaching and conducting research in the fields of conservation. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental and Natural Resource Policy from SUNY-ESF. Growing up in Western New York, Whitney was an early explorer of all things outdoors and over the years has continued to connect with the environment through her work as a science educator, camp counselor, and naturalist. A firm believer in the “hands-on, minds-on” model of connecting people to nature, she is excited to work with the Baltimore Woods community to promote the true power of place right here at home in Central New York. Whitney is an avid volleyball player, hiker, and traveler and looks forward to meeting you at The Woods!

Tom Meier, Program Manager & Camp Director

tom meier camp director Tom graduated from SUNY-ESF in 2001 with a BS in Environmental Forest Biology and Forest Resources Management. He has been a counselor, naturalist, and director at various Boy Scout and Environmental Education camps for the past 20 years. Tom has many hobbies and skills, chief among them are playing banjo, guitar and mandolin, nature photography, and fly fishing. He spent his childhood playing in the woods, fishing in farm ponds, skipping rocks, building forts, camping, backpacking, and forming a deep connection to the natural world. As Camp Director at Baltimore Woods since 2007, he has been passionate about providing those same opportunities for hundreds of local children as they play and discover and build their own nature connections.

David DuBois, Director of Stewardship

David graduated from SUNY-Binghamton in 2016 with a BS in Biochemistry. Since then he has been working on trails and wildlife out west. He has cleared trails in the wilderness of Idaho, tracked desert pronghorn in Mexico, chased woodpeckers around a fire scar in Oregon, and monitored declining birds in Montana. As land steward David is excited to keep the trails of Baltimore Woods usable and beautiful and the ecological processes of the preserve healthy and functioning. When not at Baltimore Woods he’s probably birding, botanizing, or hiking somewhere else in Central New York.

Katie Robideau, School Programs Manager

Katie graduated from SUNY-ESF in 2019 with a B.A. in Natural Resources Management and concentration in Recreation Resource and Protected Area Management. Growing up in Niagara Falls, New York, she quickly gained an appreciation for the natural world which enabled her to explore opportunities in environmental education and stewardship. As School Programs Manager, Katie is looking forward to connecting children with hands-on science learning through the Nature in the City Program and field trips at Baltimore Woods! Katie loves nature photography, making jewelry, ceramics, hiking, and spending time with her two dogs.

Anna Stunkel, Environmental Educator

Anna graduated from College of the Atlantic in 2013 with a B.A. in Human Ecology and concentration in Wildlife Biology. She grew up in eastern Massachusetts and spent her childhood exploring out in nature. Anna is so excited to help inspire wonder, joy, and stewardship of the natural world for all ages through the diverse programs here at Baltimore Woods. She has worked as an ornithologist and environmental educator in a variety of places around the country, including two seasons as a raptor biologist at nearby Derby Hill Bird Observatory. She can’t wait to get to know more folks in the Central New York community! Anna loves birding, hiking, horseback riding, traveling, and drawing colored pencil wildlife art.

Elizabeth Suzedell, Environmental Educator

Lizzy joined Baltimore Woods as an Environmental Educator in 2022, after teaching high school science in Auburn. She grew up in Eastern Massachusetts, where she worked as a Weather Observer and Educator at the Blue Hill Meteorological Observatory. Lizzy discovered her love for nature and weather when she was young, spending her time outside all day exploring and watching the clouds. She went on to receive her B.S. in Meteorology from SUNY Oswego in 2021. Lizzy hopes to continue to share her passion for observing and exploring our natural world with all visitors at Baltimore Woods. Outside of The Woods, Lizzy can be found running, hiking, playing the piano, playing ice hockey, or spending time with friends and family.

Catherine McLaughlin, Environmental Educator

Katie joined the Baltimore Woods team in 2022 after teaching as an Environmental Educator and Camp Director at Rogers Environmental Education Center. She is a Central New York native, growing up in Oswego county and continuing her education at SUNY-ESF. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Education and Interpretation and is currently working on her M.S. in Natural Resources Management. Katie spent most of her childhood catching frogs, helping her mom in the garden, or at summer camp. Outside of work, Katie can be found hiking with her dog, experimenting in the kitchen, or learning a new craft.

Kaylen Iorio, Environmental Educator

Kaylen graduated from Virginia Tech in 2023 with a B.S. in Wildlife Conservation and a minor in Ecological Cities. She spent time in Reno, Nevada working with AmeriCorps at the Great Basin Institute guiding kids in nature activities and creating meaningful outdoor experiences. Kaylen also served as a naturalist in Cape May developing environmental education lessons for children and wants to encourage thoughtful interactions between people and nature resulting in a genuine connection to the environment. In her free time, she enjoys running, hiking, birding, exploring new places, and looks forward to seeing you at Baltimore Woods!

Rachel Ribaudo, Environmental Educator, Nature in the City

Rachel holds a B.S in Environmental Science and an M.S. in Hydrology. Following her education, she spent several years working in environmental consulting, but she discovered a love for educating children through homeschooling and teaching Sunday school. She loves hiking with her family and sharing the wonder of nature with her kids. When she’s not teaching or hiking, she enjoys playing tennis, knitting, and playing the piano.

Caitlyn Brooks, Marketing Coordinator

Caitlyn, a Rochester, New York native, moved to the Central New York area in 2019. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Communications and Digital Media from St. Bonaventure University. When she’s not at The Woods, Caitlyn enjoys cooking, crafting, knitting, reading, and spending time with her husband, daughter, and two rescue dogs.

Sue Jones, Office Manager

Office Manager for Baltimore Woods since 2011, Sue Jones enjoys welcoming visitors to The Woods, both young and old, and working with our many wonderful volunteers. When she is not at The Woods, Sue enjoys walking her dog, kayaking, working in her garden, and spending time with her grandchildren. A graduate of Wells College, Sue serves on the Tree Committee for the Village of Skaneateles and is a big fan of farmers markets.
