Baltimore Woods BioBlitz!
From June 7-July 7, we invite you to be part of a Baltimore Woods BioBlitz! Grab your phone or camera and join us to celebrate the biodiversity at Baltimore Woods. Any visitor to The Woods is welcome to participate in this free citizen science event!
What is a BioBlitz?
In a BioBlitz, community members come together to record as many species as they can find during a set time period. It’s a great way to get outside, build skills in wildlife identification, and meet others in your community who love nature. Plus, your observations will help us understand and protect the biodiversity of Baltimore Woods.
How can I participate?
From June 7-July 7, take pictures of the plants, animals, and fungi you see at Baltimore Woods and upload them to iNaturalist! They’ll automatically be added to the Baltimore Woods BioBlitz project.
Here’s how to get started:
- Create an account on iNaturalist here: https://www.inaturalist.org/signup
- Download the free iNaturalist app to your smartphone.

For Android:
No smartphone? No problem! You can take pictures using a camera and upload them to iNaturalist on your computer.

Is there an age limit?
A BioBlitz is a great event for any age! However, the iNaturalist app requires users to be at least 13 years old to make an account. Kids younger than 13 can join in by helping older family members explore and find cool plants, animals, and fungi.
