In our first Cabin Campfires program of the series\, let’s look back on those dedicated folks\, who they were\, what they did\, and the early plans for Baltimore Woods. Cozy up by the fireplace\, grab a hot drink\, and hear some stories about Baltimore Woods “back in those days.” \nRegistration for Cabin Campfires: Where It All Began is now closed.\n  \nMore Details: This program is designed for adults. This program will be inside our log cabin which is accessed by traversing a field of grass or snow. Join a naturalist and other bird-lovers for a casual afternoon of learning and connecting! Binoculars and field guides will be provided. \nThis program will occur every Wednesday from January 14 – April 8. SUMMARY:Nature Sketching: Forest Curiosities (CLOSED)
DESCRIPTION:Sketching offers a fascinating window into nature’s beauty and diversity. In this series for older teens and adults\, we will sharpen our observation skills with fun exercises to learn about proportions\, shading\, texture\, and colors. Each session includes an exploration around the preserve and sketching along the trails or back in the program room. During winter or inclement weather\, sketching will take place in the Interpretive Center. All sketching materials are provided\, including pencils\, colored pencils\, pens\, and paper. You are welcome to bring your own supplies if you prefer. We encourage attending multiple monthly sessions to build your skills\, but this is not required. In our first session\, we will collect natural curiosities like pinecones\, sticks\, and winter weeds and bring them back to sketch in the Interpretive Center.\n\nRegistration for Nature Sketching: Forest Curiosities is now closed\n\nMore Details: The program is designed for ages 14+ Teens under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Open to all interested adult members of the community\, we will meet at the Interpretive Center (or outside if weather permits) one Saturday a month to delve into a reading of fiction or creative nonfiction chosen by participants. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a creative evening of bird sketching with Baltimore Woods naturalist and artist Anna Stunkel and Onondaga Audubon Program Chair Emma Borys. Participants will draw from Baltimore Woods’ taxidermy bird specimens\, offering a unique chance to study details up close. All skill levels are welcome. Some supplies will be provided\, but you are welcome to bring your own. \nRegistration for Ornithology Art Night has now closed\nMore Details: This program is designed for adults and children age 12+. Space is limited and registration through the Baltimore Woods website is required. This program will be held in the large program room. Admission is by donation. Hope to see you there!
