This stargazing event will showcase winter skies at their finest. \nCultures across the world and throughout time are united in a fascination with the night sky. Humans have used stars to mark the passage of time\, tell stories\, build mythologies\, and navigate across vast dark oceans. With powerful telescopes and a wealth of knowledge\, Bob Piekiel is your tour guide to the stars and planets\, revealing the secrets of the far away\, inspiring us to think about how special our little green and blue ball in space is. \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, January 1. \nMore details: This program is designed for ages 8 and up. Our December meeting will take place on January 4 from 10:30 AM to Noon when we will be discussing Flight Behavior by Barbara Kingsolver. During this program\, we will go for a quiet walk around The Woods to listen to the chickadees fluttering around the trees\, the breeze softly whistling through the hemlocks\, the crunches of our footsteps\, and whatever else we discover. Join us as we experience the sounds resonating through the not-so-silent winter forest. Snowshoes will be provided if needed. \nMore details: This program is designed for adults. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. This program will follow our most difficult trails\, which have narrow and steep sections with steps\, roots\, and loose soil. The surfaces may be muddy or icy this time of year. Our total route will be about 1 mile.

DESCRIPTION:Registration for this program is closed.\nExperience nature in a unique way on a guided Forest Therapy Walk throughout Baltimore Woods! Forest Therapy\, also known as “forest bathing\,” stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku. Led by June Leo-Randazzo\, a Certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide\, this program invites participants to immerse themselves in nature and open their senses to the surroundings of the forest. \nExtensive scientific research has found forest therapy walks to have numerous physical health benefits including activation of the ‘rest and restore’ parasympathetic nervous system\, decreases to anxiety and depression\, improving creativity\, and much more. Your stress will peel away as your nervous system relaxes and you simply experience the medicine of the forest. \nDuring this slow\, mindful\, and quiet walk\, June will provide a series of relaxing invitations to engage all your senses\, release your mind chatter\, and deepen connections to nature\, allowing you to connect with yourself and others through nature in new ways. You will have opportunities throughout for both individual reflection and to come together as a group to listen and share what we are noticing. The 2 hour walk ends with a tea ceremony with wildcrafted tea foraged from the area and snacks. \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, January 8. \nMore details: This walk is designed for adults. Forest Therapy\, also known as “forest bathing\,” stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku. Led by June Leo-Randazzo\, a Certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide\, this program invites participants to immerse themselves in nature and open their senses to the surroundings of the forest. \nExtensive scientific research has found forest therapy walks to have numerous physical health benefits including activation of the ‘rest and restore’ parasympathetic nervous system\, decreases to anxiety and depression\, improving creativity\, and much more. Your stress will peel away as your nervous system relaxes and you simply experience the medicine of the forest. \nDuring this slow\, mindful\, and quiet walk\, June will provide a series of relaxing invitations to engage all your senses\, release your mind chatter\, and deepen connections to nature\, allowing you to connect with yourself and others through nature in new ways. You will have opportunities throughout for both individual reflection and to come together as a group to listen and share what we are noticing.
