Join us for a bona fide Baltimore Woods tradition as we explore the exciting and mysterious nocturnal forest at an event for all ages! Using flashlights\, black lights\, and no lights at all\, we’ll put our senses to the test as we listen for owls and look for glowing mushrooms. Half of this after-dark program will follow our most difficult trail with hills\, roots\, and steps. The other half will be on relatively flat trails with grass or stone dust. Forest Therapy\, also known as “forest bathing\,” stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku. Led by June Leo-Randazzo\, a Certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide\, this program invites participants to immerse themselves in nature and open their senses to the surroundings of the forest. \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, September 10. \nMore details: This walk is designed for adults. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. You will be notified ahead of the program on where to park and meet on the day of the walk. The walk will take place rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:Registration for this program is closed.\nExperience nature in a unique way on a guided Forest Therapy Walk throughout Baltimore Woods! Forest Therapy\, also known as “forest bathing\,” stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku. Led by June Leo-Randazzo\, a Certified ANFT Forest Therapy Guide\, this program invites participants to immerse themselves in nature and open their senses to the surroundings of the forest. \nExtensive scientific research has found forest therapy walks to have numerous physical health benefits including activation of the ‘rest and restore’ parasympathetic nervous system\, decreases to anxiety and depression\, improving creativity\, and much more. Your stress will peel away as your nervous system relaxes and you simply experience the medicine of the forest. \nDuring this slow\, mindful\, and quiet walk\, June will provide a series of relaxing invitations to engage all your senses\, release your mind chatter\, and deepen connections to nature\, allowing you to connect with yourself and others through nature in new ways. You will have opportunities throughout for both individual reflection and to come together as a group to listen and share what we are noticing. The 2.5 hour walk ends with a tea ceremony with wildcrafted tea foraged from the area and snacks. \nRegistration for this program closes at 3pm on Wednesday\, September 11. \nMore details: This walk is designed for ages 14 and up. DESCRIPTION:Calling all citizen scientists: get ready for a Baltimore Woods BioBlitz! From September 23-October 23\, you can help us understand\, celebrate\, and protect the biodiversity of The Woods by recording what you see out on the trails.\n\n  \nOn September 23rd\, we’ll gather to kick off the BioBlitz! We’ll review how to use the iNaturalist app\, build skills in identifying wildlife\, and work as a group to record as many species as we can find. Join us for a fun morning outdoors as we get to know local wildlife and welcome the fall season\, all while giving back to The Woods.\n\nClick to register for the Baltimore Woods BioBlitz Kickoff!\nMore details: This program is designed for ages 8 and up. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required. This program will include a walk on dirt or grass trails that may contain roots or loose soil.
