DESCRIPTION:Bird banding is essential to helping scientists monitor bird populations and habitats\, giving key information about conservation needs. In 2017\, we partnered with the Onondaga Audubon Society and SUNY-ESF to reinstitute bird banding at Baltimore Woods after a 24 year hiatus. DESCRIPTION:Something strange has been going on at the Woods lately and our team has noticed mysterious signs and tracks. Think you have what it takes to help solve the mystery at Baltimore Woods? Grab your friends and join us for a scavenger hunt throughout the preserve! \nThe scavenger hunt is a self-guided program that takes place entirely outside on the trails\, so be sure to dress warmly and come ready to hike through rolling hills. Meet at the pavilion at 10:00 to pick up your scavenger hunt clues and expect to take at least 1.5-2 hours to solve all of the clues. \nThis program is intended for ages 5 and up. DESCRIPTION:Autumn leaves are celebrations of the change in the seasons\, in nature\, and in ourselves.  Come explore the colorful lives of trees as they prepare for the oncoming winter. Together we’ll take a walk\,  make observations\, and collect leaves. Later\, we’ll gather to make nature art and compare your collections with leaves from your own neighborhood. Take a walk with Naturalist Tom Meier to meet the ferns of Baltimore Woods and discover what makes these plants so “ferntastic”. \nThis program includes a moderate hike on hills and uneven trails. Join us on a peaceful stroll through the Faust Garden and Harrison Trail to admire these fleeting beauties and ponder the ephemeral nature of spring and ourselves. This will be an easy walk along flat trails.
