DESCRIPTION:Calling all nature-loving bookworms! The Literature & Nature Book Group at Baltimore Woods welcomes you to nourish and enhance your appreciation of the natural world with ongoing friendly discussions of great writing on that theme. Open to all interested adult members of the community\, we will meet at the Interpretive Center (or outside if weather permits) one Saturday a month to delve into a reading of fiction or creative nonfiction chosen by participants. Our August book is The Invention of Nature by Andrea Wulf\n\n\nClick to register for the August Literature & Nature Book Group Meeting!\n\n\nDiscussion leader Todd Stregiel is thrilled to have an opportunity to join with others in the community by bringing together two of his abiding passions— reading good books and appreciating nature’s wonders. DESCRIPTION:Baltimore Woods recently grew by 70 acres. This new property hosts beautiful forests\, stunning wetlands\, and a lot of amazing wildlife; an amazing part of an outdoor classroom. This property will be an educational campus\, and only open to the public through guided programs. This tour will be your first chance to experience the newest addition to Baltimore Woods and the learning opportunities it presents for all ages. SUMMARY:Family Forest Bathing
DESCRIPTION:Forest Bathing stems from a Japanese practice known as Shinrin Yoku\, and it is a chance to be with Nature\, perhaps in a different way then you are used to as this is not a hike\, instead we will saunter & at times sit during the walk.  June Leo-Randazzo is a ANFT Certified Forest Therapy Guide who will offer you & your children invitations which help you to be more aware of your senses (sight\, smell\, sound\, touch\, imagination\, etc)\, to slow down and connect with the wonders of nature. There is no right or wrong way to participate in the invitations. We will simply experience the treasures that can be found in Nature through this playful interactive mindful experience.  Adults\, you may find your inner child while you enjoy time with your family and others in the forest.\n\n\nClick to register for Family Forest Bathing Walk!\n\n\nMore Details: This walk requires pre-registration as group size is limited to 10. This walk is for children 5 yrs. and up. All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.  Once you have completed registration you will be sent information a few days prior to the walk on where to park & meet on the day of the walk. The walk will take place in rain. In case cancellation is necessary due to dangerous conditions -high winds\,thunder/lightning\, you will be notified the morning of the walk.

DESCRIPTION:When the summer sun sets\, a whole community of nighttime invertebrates emerges and brings the night to life. We’ll attract a variety of insects using special lights and white sheets to get a close-up view of their patterns\, colors\, and adaptations. A short walk through the woods will reveal even more wonders.
