DESCRIPTION:Experience the joy of spring wildflowers and ferns through art! In this month’s session for kids\, we will explore the Faust Garden and draw many kinds of spring plants like trilliums\, Bloodroot\, and Trout Lilies. All art materials will be provided\, and you are welcome to bring your own supplies if you prefer.\n\n\nRegistration for Nature Art for Kids: Wildflowers is now closed\n\n\nMore Details: We will go for a brief adventure to the Faust Garden for our sketching. This trail is relatively flat and is one of our most accessible trails. If it is raining\, we may do some sketching using waterproof paper or sketch from photographs inside the Interpretive Center. Please bring a small portable camp chair if you have one. This program is designed for ages 5-13. Space is limited. Online pre-registration is required.

SUMMARY:Nature Art for Kids: Mammals (CLOSED)
DESCRIPTION:Nature art is a great way to discover and learn about cool plants\, animals\, other living things\, and landscapes! In this series for kids\, we will sharpen our observation skills with fun exercises to learn about proportions\, shading\, texture\, and colors. Each session includes an exploration around the preserve and sketching along the trails or inside the Interpretive Center. During winter or inclement weather\, sketching will take place inside. \nAll sketching materials are provided\, including pencils\, colored pencils\, pens\, and paper. You are welcome to bring your own supplies if you prefer. We encourage attending multiple monthly sessions to build your skills\, but this is not required. \nIn this session\, we will sketch mammals including squirrels visiting our feeders through the window. We will also use taxidermy mounts and photos as references to learn about mammal anatomy\, fur texture\, and tips for drawing mammals in motion. Before sketching\, we will go for a brief walk for inspiration. We will walk on relatively flat trails near the building. \n\n\nRegistration for Nature Art for Kids: Mammals is now closed\n\n\nMore Details: This program is designed for children ages 5-13. DESCRIPTION:Ever seen fantastic animals in mounds of snow\, sparkling colors in illuminated icicles\, or dizzying designs in fallen tree branches? Winter landscapes are the perfect medium for bringing our imaginations to life. Get in touch with your creative side and become a nature artist! In this program\, we’ll go on a hike and use the materials we find in the woods to make our own whimsical creations. DESCRIPTION:Autumn leaves are celebrations of the change in the seasons\, in nature\, and in ourselves.  Come explore the colorful lives of trees as they prepare for the oncoming winter. Together we’ll take a walk\,  make observations\, and collect leaves. Later\, we’ll gather to make nature art and compare your collections with leaves from your own neighborhood. Connect scientifically and creatively to the fantastic displays of autumn at Baltimore Woods! \nThis program is intended for children ages 5-10. Parents are not required to register but they must accompany their children throughout the program. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and bring a few leaves from your own neighborhood to use for our craft. Arrive ready for an hour-long\, moderate hike with rolling hills; the planned route is not suitable for strollers. Our 182-acre “classroom” is rich with diverse habitats\, including streams\, forests\, wetlands\, beaver ponds\, and open meadows. This four-week series runs weekly on Thursday afternoons. $40 members; $60 public. Pre-registration is required and the price includes all four weeks. Not only that\, but there’s plenty of cracks and crevices to find aquatic creatures. Let’s go explore here! \nMiami Beach\nJune 24 from 1-4pm \nIt’s summer-let’s go to the beach! This week we’ll make our way to Miami Beach for a fun day in the sun.
