DESCRIPTION:The great naturalist Edwin Way Teale wrote that winter is a time of superlative life. The abilities of plants and animals to survive the cold Central New York winters are varied and astounding. Follow along as Naturalist Tom Meier sets forth to understand the adaptations and drive of winter wildlife in a time when giving up is not an option. Program for ages 5 and up. \nRegister for Superlative Life!\nA Virtual Program Available for viewing February 5-26\nWhen you register\, we’ll ask you to provide the email you’d like to use to view the program. On February 5th at 12pm\, all registered participants will receive a personal email invitation with a link to view the program directly from YouTube. The program will be available for viewing until February 26th at 12pm.  \nRegistration for this program will be rolling throughout the month\, allowing participants who sign up any time before February 25th at 12pm to receive an invitation link within 24 hours.  \nWe are pleased to continue to offer virtual program experiences for our community to have engaging experiences with nature and stay connected with the Baltimore Woods preserve and staff no matter where you are! These programs take our education team significant time and effort to produce and if you can support us with a donation\, it is greatly appreciated. Our typical in-person programs run at $9 per person\, and if you are able\, we suggest a donation of $10 per household for this virtual program experience. DESCRIPTION:In a world of grays and whites\, a little bit of green can go a long way. Houseplants help brighten up our homes on even the darkest of winter days. Tune in for a live virtual program to learn about houseplant propagation and make your own terrarium. Participants will be sent a materials list for making a terrarium if they want to build along with Environmental Educator Eliza. Program for all ages. Bring a flashlight if you prefer. Dress for the weather. A second caroling session is offered on Friday\, December 11th as well. Pre-registration is required and due to limited capacities associated with the pandemic\, walk-ins cannot be accommodated. \nThis event is sold out. Unfortunately due to COVID safety protocols\, we cannot accept any walk-ins for this program. We wish you a healthy and happy holiday season!\nMore details: At Baltimore Woods Nature Center\, the health and safety of our staff and visitors is of utmost importance. All in-person programming will follow best practices for keeping our participants safe\, including physical distancing and wearing facial coverings.

DESCRIPTION:One remarkable day in autumn\, when the trees are a flutter with the colors of fall\, the enchanted side of Baltimore Woods shimmers through. Fairies\, trolls\, and other fantastical creatures can be seen and heard frolicking through the forest. Those bridge trolls are at it again! They have imprisoned the Fairy Queen and it is up to all humans and magical creatures to free her. Along the Enchanted Trail you will meet many such creatures who will help you on your quest – a potion maker in the Wee Folk Forest\, a fortune-telling mermaid\, minstrels\, and more!
