DESCRIPTION:The Earth is tilting back toward its winter angle\, leaves are changing colors\, and summer constellations will soon be replaced with winter’s cast of characters. There’s a new moon on this night\, which will give us our last\, best views of the summer Milky Way without the Moon’s light. Venus and (hopefully) Neptune will also be visible. Cultures across the world and throughout time are united in a fascination with the night sky. Humans have used stars to mark the passage of time\, tell stories\, build mythologies\, and navigate across vast dark oceans. With powerful telescopes and a wealth of knowledge\, Bob Piekiel is your tour guide to the stars and planets\, revealing the secrets of the far away\, inspiring us to think about how special our little green and blue ball in space is. Backup date: 9/13/26\n\n\n\n\n\nClick to register for Star Party: Farewell to Summer Skies!\n\n\n\n\nMore Details: Dress warmly\, this program will be outdoors in our main parking lot that has a gravel surface. It is famous for having a cyclic\, 33-year period\, capable of producing a meter “storm\,” but we’ll hope for an ordinary show this year\, plus good views of Saturn and Uranus\, and a farewell to fall skies. Cultures across the world and throughout time are united in a fascination with the night sky.
