Come see our sun in specially- filtered telescopes showing its appearance in white\, red\, yellow\, green\, and deep blue light. These scopes allow one to see sunspots\, flares\, and prominences normally invisible in lower-grade solar scopes. With powerful telescopes and a wealth of knowledge\, Bob Piekiel is your tour guide to the stars and planets\, revealing the secrets of the far away\, inspiring us to think about how special our little green and blue ball in space is. DESCRIPTION:At this popular\, once-a-year program we will give you one-on-one instruction on how to set up and use your own scopes (Yes\, BRING THEM!). If you don’t have a scope\, but want to get one\, this program teaches you what to look for and the various options. Mount types\, eyepiece magnification\, tracking\, etc.\, will all be covered. There will be a crescent moon in the sky making for an easy practice target. Also\, Jupiter and Venus as well! We start early while it’s still light out so everyone can see the overview of telescopes we present\, then turn our eyes to the sky.
